Ex-Administrator of Red River Parish Communications District Improperly Paid Herself Extra $17,112

An investigative audit found that the former administrator of the Red River Parish Communications District improperly paid herself an additional $17,112 between July 2016 and January 2018 by issuing herself 10 extra paychecks.

Auditors examined the District’s records after being notified by the District’s external CPA that the administrator may have issued the extra paychecks.

In addition, auditors found that between January 2015 and December 2017, the former administrator consistently issued herself paychecks before the end of the pay periods and altered the District’s accounting records to hide her actions.

The former administrator was fired in April 2018.

By issuing the extra paychecks and altering District records, the former administrator may have violated state law. Further, issuing paychecks before the end of pay periods could be considered a loan of District funds, which would be a violation of the state Constitution.
