Legislative Auditor Delivers Keynote at Tennessee Comptroller’s Training Event

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Louisiana Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera delivered the keynote address for the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Department of Audit training Tuesday.

Purpera’s keynote, “The Public Service of Auditing,” was delivered to around 350 attendees who gathered at Nashville’s Belmont University for the two-day event. Louisiana’s state auditor talked about LLA’s mantra of “Right Work/Right Way,” discussed how LLA communicates to Louisiana’s citizens and made comparisons between his office and the Tennessee Comptroller’s office.

Purpera also spoke about what makes a leader; how governments appear today; strategic planning for governmental auditing agencies; and the role of government auditors in the future.

According to the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, all audit employees and other employees who need CPE credits for CPA, CFE, CISA, CGFM, etc., participate in the two-day event. The agenda is developed by the Comptroller’s Department of Audit Committee on Training and offers sessions on government accounting, government auditing, fraud-related issues, IT audit issues, and professional ethics. In past years, some of the more popular sessions have been presentations from state auditors from across the country.
