LLA Stands By Report on Louisiana Department of Health
The Legislative Auditor’s office would like to clarify a couple of points raised in a recent letter sent out by the Governor’s Office related to problems at the Louisiana Department of Health noted in an LLA report.
First, the letter from the Governor’s Office states that “The report has numerous inaccuracies, and does not fully outline the bold steps taken by this administration to address the years of problems within the department.” The letter then goes on to detail several points in a news story that the Governor’s Office is unhappy about, not the LLA report.
Second, the LLA report clearly states that LDH has resolved many prior-year findings, and it provide full responses from LDH that explain the steps the Department has taken and is taking to address remaining problems. The report also provides a copy of a letter from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to LDH regarding the WIC program.
