There are multiple methods of disposing of surplus movable. R.S. 33:4712(F) provides a method for selling at private sale surplus movables with a value of less than $5,000. The items are appraised, the sale is advertised and the highest bidder wins the item. It is recommended that a sealed bid process be used, not unlike a silent auction.
