R.S. 44:1.A(2)(a) gives the general definition of "public records" and it includes tapes, and recordings in that definition. In AG Op. No. 83-0927, the Attorney General opined that "The tape-recorded minutes are "public records" under the LA Public Records Law.” Pursuant to R.S. 44:36(F) recordings of meetings must be kept for 2 years.
