Act 68, effective August 1, 2024, created new requirements.
Now, law enforcement vehicles over $70,000 per vehicle must be bid out.
For vehicles $70,000 or less, the public entity must obtain quotes. While the law does not provide a specific number, it requires more than one.
The public entity should document the quotes in their files. If they do not go with the lowest quote they should maintain documentation why it was in the best interests of the law enforcement agency (such as the sheriff’s office) to go with the higher quote.Louisiana Legislative Auditor website: 01/27/2025 10:06:17 AM |
