R.S. 42:1113 prevents a public servant from contracting with his agency. There is an exception, however, for a volunteer fireman who receives no compensation in R.S. 42:1123(35). However, the facts have to fit exactly for the exception to apply.
Only the Ethics Board can determine if there is an actual violation, or if the person is subject to an exception.
