The city should check with the Ethics Board to determine if the exemption provided under R.S. 42:1170(A)(5) or any other applicable exemption would apply to any particular public employee or public official of the city that will be serving only part of the calendar year.
Only the Ethics Board can officially confirm if this or any other exemption under the Code of Governmental Ethics would apply as to specific public servants.
R.S. 42:1170(A)(5) provides an exemption from the mandatory annual ethics training for former public servants (public employees and public officials) whose public service for the calendar year lasted less than 90 days.
