The Open Meetings Law provides that public entities shall post notice no less than 24 hours, excluding weekends and legal holidays, before any Regular, Special, or Rescheduled meeting. See
R.S. 42:19(A)(1)(b)(i).
Here, the school board is seeking to adopt/set their millage rates for the current year for existing taxes and will not be rolling forward or seeking to renew, increase, or propose any new millages, therefore no additional/special notices are required.
In accordance with the Open Meetings Law, the school board must post notice, along with the agenda, for the rescheduled meeting either at the school board office or in the official journal (newspaper) at least 24 hours, excluding weekends and legal holidays, from the date and time of the rescheduled meeting. The School Board must also post a copy of the notice and agenda on its website.
The school board should also post notice at the meeting place and on its website, notifying the public that the regular meeting has been cancelled/rescheduled.Louisiana Legislative Auditor website: 06/14/2025 09:27:23 AM |
