A.1 No. R.S. 42:2.2 prohibits an appointing authority from appointing any immediate family member of existing board members, at the time of appointment, to the same board, commission, council, authority, or similar entity.
Immediate family for this purpose is defined the same as for the purposes of the Ethics Code in R.S. 42:1102(13).
The appointing authority is prohibited from appointing the following family members of an existing board members family to the same board, commission, council, authority, or similar entity:
· Spouse;
· Children (biological or adopted);
· Children’s spouse(s);
· Parents;
· Siblings;
· Sibling’s Spouse(s); and
· Spouse’s Parents

A.2. R.S. 42:1121(A)(2) of the Ethics Code requires that a board member (including police jurors) must wait at least 2 years from their termination of service on the board, before they can be appointed to any position (including appointments to other boards) by that board.
