This matter should be referred to the Board of Ethics as to whether the school employee/team sponsor may accept tickets from the entity that put on the competition. This referral should occur prior to acceptance of the tickets.
As to whether the tickets were awarded to the sponsor or to the team as a whole, the school’s attorney should review the rules of the competition.
