A.1. Yes employers are required to provide paid sick leave for employees who are required to stay home awaiting results of COVID-19 testing. See Legal Guidance FAQs on the Louisiana Legislative Auditor website.

A.2 Private employers will be reimbursed for COVID-19 related paid sick leave through payroll tax credits. Government employers are not eligible to receive reimbursement for this expense through a payroll tax credit; however, this expense may qualify for reimbursement through the Coronavirus Relief Fund. The State of Louisiana received $1.8 billion from this Fund and approximately 45% will be appropriated to local entities. Local governments should keep all of those payments for paid sick leave separated so that they can easily identify the amount expended.
