The Public Records Law provides that a custodian may charge a reasonable fee for making copies of requested public records. See R.S. 44:32. The School Board, working with its legal counsel, should establish the fee schedule for copies of public records and it should be applied consistently.
Although the school board is not required to follow the State’s established fee schedule for copies, they may want to review that Schedule in establishing their own.
